In 2009, we planted romaine for the Nunes team. Our partnership has been a natural progression of two family companies coming together to become smarter and more efficient. Our operations completely complement each other.

One Thing in Common
Did you know onions are the only basic ingredient found in every single solitary cuisine around the world? Onions are endlessly versatile and an essential ingredient in countless recipes. Believed to be native to Asia, these underground bulbs are prized all over the world; they are definitely prized in Yerington, Nevada at Peri & Sons Farms where we have been growing premium white, red, yellow, sweet and organic onions since 1979.

Picadillo a la Habanera
2 pounds ground beef
1 yellow onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
1/2 cup black or green olives
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small box raisins
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
In a large pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the onions, green pepper and garlic. Add the ground beef and cook until brown. Drain off excess fat.

Add the tomato sauce, cumin, oregano and olives. Lower the heat, cover and let simmer for 20 minutes.

Add raisins, salt and pepper to taste. Let simmer for five minutes. Serve immediately.
Picadillo a la Habanera
This traditional Cuban dish is made characteristic by the addition of olives and raisins. It makes a great filling for tacos and and empanadas, or served over white rice.
