Growing Sustainably with Peri & Sons Farms
The following is a text description of the Growing Sustainably infographic from Peri & Sons Farms.
Energy
We replaced light bulbs at the Firebaugh packing shed with energy-efficient LED bulbs, which will result in energy savings of 211,474 kilowatt-hours annually.
This reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 128.4 tons, which equates to an offset of planting 39 acres of trees.
Fuel
We recycled used vehicle oil, utilizing approximately 3,000 gallons to create safe and clean-burning oil to heat our shops in Nevada each winter.
Packaging
Replacing Plastic -- All of our organic high-graphic bags will be made of 100 percent plastic-free, biodegradable, recyclable and compostable Earthbags.
Paper Clamshells -- Our Gourmet Organic Shallots and Cipollinis are packaged in non-plastic clamshells that are biodegradable and compostable.
Minimizing Plastic -- Adjustments to our consumer bags have kept about 180 football fields of packaging material out of landfills annually since 2021.
