This zippy, herbacious sauce is fantastic as a topping for grilled steak, chicken and vegetables. It also makes a wonderful garnish for bean soup

Ingredients
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup yellow or white onion, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf parsley
1 1/2 teaspoons oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon hot red-pepper flakes
1 fresh bay leaf, finely chopped
Directions
Whisk all ingredients together in a non-reactive container and let stand at room temperature at least two hours before using. Store extra sauce in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
