These sweet and savory ribs are insanely delicious and will have your guests thinking you cooked all day, when just the opposite is true. Do take the time to sear the ribs before adding to your slow cooker -- it really does make for better flavor. We like to serve these ribs with a side of mashed potatoes.

Ingredients
3 pounds bone-in English-style short ribs, cut in half cross-wise
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 red onion, sliced
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
2/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1 cup prune juice
2 tablespoons fresh ginger, chopped or grated
5 garlic cloves, chopped
4-5 sugar cubes
Directions
Add flour and ribs to a large, resealable plastic bag and shake to coat ribs with flour. Remove ribs from bag and shake off excess flour.
Heat a large skillet to medium high and add oil. Let oil heat up until it is shimmering in the pan. Working in batches, carefully add ribs to pan with kitchen tongs and brown for 2-3 minutes per side, turning with the tongs. Remove ribs from pan once browned and place in a slow cooker. Repeat this process until all ribs are seared and in your slow cooker.
Add onions, soy sauce, prune juice, garlic, ginger and sugar cubes to the slow cooker. Cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 6-7 hours. Serve warm.
